However, in some countries, the underground economy can be helpful, especially in cases where the government is corrupt or inept. During the current crisis in Venezuela, the government has regulated official shops and banned money and food, forcing the people to depend on the black market for survival.

It is a global phenomenon that is expanding at an alarming rate. While it is illegal to use a dark market, the activity is essential for the health of the society. It is the basis of a healthy society. A functioning economy is not possible without a vibrant underground economy.
